KAT was formed specifically to be a niche manufacturer of sliding patio doors and quickly became the UK’s first national supplier of specialist uPVC patio doors. The company grew very fast thanks to marketing and manufacturing skills, combined with outstanding customer care. Patio doors in either uPVC and Aluminium are still the mainstay of the business.
We felt it was important not to be a ‘jack of all windows and doors’ but to become highly respected specialists. In 2007, our team recognised another niche sector was fast developing in Aluminium Fenestration for residential properties and we grasped early on that to be successful, manufacturing companies in this area have to really understand their customers’ needs and must be able to demonstrate that they are true experts. KAT aluminium bi-folding and sliding patio doors have been a revelation and the company now has a specialist manufacturing cell in our Macclesfield factory. This dedicated team expertly produce In-line and Lift and Slide patio doors, both dual rail and triple track and Bifolding doors to a very high specification.
In 2018, we developed a timber-look uPVC flush casement window, which we have called the Kraftsman. This beautiful window can be paired with a flush door and sales are rapidly increasing as customers recognise the stylish, contemporary aesthetics of Kraftsman.
KAT is part of a medium sized, privately owned group of specialist fenestration companies which includes Spitfire Doors and Universal Arches. All market leaders in their own right, all operating in niche sectors as true manufacturing specialists of bespoke products.
The company is proud to employ local people in Macclesfield, most of whom are long-serving team members. The company enjoys a low staff turnover and is proud to be an investor in people, in the truest sense.
